Lync 2010 Cumulative Updates for October 2012

A quick blog post to let people know that new updates (October 2012) for the Lync 2010 Client, Lync 2010 Server (including the Mobility Service), and the Lync 2010 Attendee were released today.  This round of updates is also referred to as CU7 (Cumulative Update 7).

NextHop has a nice write-up on the update with links to the associated KB articles and downloads:

The direct KB article and download for the mobility service update is here:  Description of the cumulative update for Lync Server 2010, Mobility Service: October 2012.  It is described as improving the reliability, stability, and performance of the Lync 2010 Mobility service.

I haven’t installed the server updates yet, but here are a couple of notes on the client update:

  • This update brings the version up to 7577.4356.
  • The Lync 2010 client will close during this update and it did not restart for me.
  • If Outlook is running and you install the update manually, Outlook will need to be closed or you can install the update and do a future reboot as shown here:

Database Updates

There is a database update included with CU7, and it is documented in Step #3 in the update KB article under the “Method 1 Cumulative Server Update Installer“.

To summarize that article – but read it to verify:
