SQL 2008 R2 Now Supported for Lync Server 2010

Today Microsoft announced that Lync Server 2010 officially supports using SQL Server 2008 R2 for a back-end pool database.

Previously only SQL 2008 SP1 or 2005 SP3 were officially supported (as I recently blogged about in The Lync Server Databases blog entry).

Many had used SQL 2008 R2 in labs with no issues.  Microsoft needed time to put SQL 2008 R2 through it’s paces (testing) with Lync and found no issues.

You can read more about it here on NextHop: http://blogs.technet.com/b/nexthop/archive/2011/04/20/lync-server-2010-support-for-sql-2008-r2.aspx.
